Is a traditional Kerala feast served on a banana leaf, celebrating the harvest festival. The meal is purely vegetarian, consisting of a variety of dishes that offer a balance of flavors, textures, and colors.

Here's a traditional Onam Sadhya menu:

Rice

Traditional Kerala rice, known for its unique flavor and texture.

Sides (Upper and Kootan)

Parippu (Dal Curry): Yellow moong dal cooked and served with ghee.

Sambar: Lentil-based vegetable stew made with tamarind and assorted vegetables.

Rasam: A tangy soup made with tamarind juice, tomato, pepper, cumin, and other spices.

Kootu Curry: A thick curry made with black chickpeas, coconut, and vegetables.

Avial: A mixed vegetable dish with coconut, curry leaves, and yogurt.

Thoran: Stir-fried vegetables with grated coconut (usually cabbage, beans, or carrot).

Erissery: Pumpkin and red beans cooked with coconut and spices.

Pachadi: A sweet and sour yogurt-based dish with fruits or vegetables (usually pineapple or cucumber).

Kichadi: Similar to pachadi, usually made with cucumber or beetroot.

Pulissery: A sour, yogurt-based curry often made with ripe mango or cucumber.

Inji Puli: A sweet and sour ginger and tamarind chutney.

Manga Curry: A spicy mango pickle.

Naranga Curry: A lemon pickle.

The meal is served on a banana leaf placed with the tip pointing left, if you are not comfortable eating on banana leaf you can ask for a plate

The courses are served in a particular order, starting with salt, upperis (banana chips), and pickles on the top left of the leaf, followed by various vegetable dishes, and ending with rice, sambar, and other gravies on the right side.

The meal concludes with the serving of payasam.

Note: The entire meal is traditionally eaten with hands, without the use of cutlery, which is a significant part of the experience.
