Movement immersion with Peter Hunter

Diverse: Workshop

About the weekend. Come immerse yourself in a riveting movement weekend that will leave you nourished, inspired and sore in places you didn't know you had.

We will practice, play and explore a diverse set of disciplines: Yoga, stretching, handstands, acroyoga, partner games and moving in nature - a potent cocktail to shake your patterns, connect you with new qualities and guarantee a good dose of beginners mind and lots of fun. The practices will be intense, but varied and self-paced, to ensure your "immersion" in them. But you can expect enough time to absorb and recover, both with sauna, bathing and each others company and great food in the beautiful natural surroundings of Kvarnen.

PETER HUNTER
Peter Hunter is a training-based physiotherapist and teacher of many movement disciplines. He has a story of deep personal transformation, where movement played a deep part:
"In my teenage years, my "interest" in grafitti, thievery and smoking weed grew out of repressed anger and deep shame. I lived two lives and was split inside. I had death in front of me on multiple occasions. My path back to myself, to vulnerability, to self-worth, went through a nature-based "wilderness therapy" program in Utah, USA, and after that movement in many forms.
The first cornerstone was Parkour at Gerlev Idrætshøjskole, where I found a positive community around rebellious and creative exploration of the environment. Then came dance, where my courage to express myself and be seen was put to the test through many amazing and awkward moments. In the acroyoga-community, I enjoyed physical connection with others and the pleasure in play and body awareness. In the last couple years, I've focused especially on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a martial art that awakens warrior-qualities in me, rhythm, power and focus.
"I haven't even mentioned Yoga, meditation or handstand here, but I hope these highlights give a sense of "my world". And its all centered around how movement can restore our connection to ourselves, to others, and to nature, which we so often lose in different ways. I look forward to create a weekend - together with you - that connects you."

Deep in the Swedish forest next to a dammed lake lies Kvarnen - an old water mill, which today forms the framework for various courses and retreats. "Kvarn" means "mill" in Swedish - hence the name. Flour has been milled here since the dawn of time and many beautiful machines can still be found in the old three-storey building. On the plot are also adjacent houses with cozy living rooms, dining room, kitchen etc. - together almost a small village. Finn and Cecilie, who own and run Kvarnen, love to build and have spent the past several years renovating the old buildings. Together, they have, among other things, transformed the top floor of Kvarnen, which used to be a drying loft, into a beautiful yoga shala with a panoramic view over the lake and most recently they have built a sauna up in the trees. The place offers many opportunities to enjoy the Swedish nature in the form of hiking, bathing in the stream and under a small waterfall and sauna. It is also possible to go to a nearby swimming lake.
W have animals at Kvarnen - the cat Louis. Mostly outside. Rarely comes in.

ACCOMMODATION AND FACILITIES
At Kvarnen, the simple life is lived close to nature. The atmosphere is cosy, homely and relaxed. You will sleep in the attic in shared two- or three-person rooms. The rooms are small, but wellfurnished for bedrooms. Please note that there is no standing height in some of the rooms. The toilet is separate from the rooms and the bath with hot water shower is in the basement among the big, beautiful machines - an experience in itself, but probably a little different from what you are used to at home. If you expect a luxury retreat, you should be aware that the conditions at Kvarnen are beautiful and simple, but certainly not as you know them from a hotel. If you are in doubt as to whether the conditions suit your needs, please feel free to contact us. It is important to us that the qualities we offer match your expectations.
The food at Kvarnen is plant-based. Before the morning class, a hot detox drink is served. After the morning practice there is a big brunch and in the evening an early dinner. If you need something between meals, there will be tea, healthy snacks and fruit during the day.
