(+band). K.óla is the solo-project of the Icelandic artist, Katrín Helga Ólafsdóttir. Her ethereal voice and playful melodies will sweep you away. Catch her playing in Huset Hasserisgade on the 26th of September.
There she will be performing songs from her most recent album 'Sex on a cloud' with a band of five friends and musicians. Alfred Lykke on guitar, Kristín Ýr Jónsdóttir on flute , Sólrún Ylfa Ingimarsdóttir on violin and Benedicte Pierloni-Nielsen on drums.
K.óla has a background with contemporary music, studying composition in Iceland, and doing such as writing pieces for orchestra. But now she mainly writes pop songs and performs them on the electric bass.
Her album 'Sex on a cloud' was released this summer. It is her first album in English with lyrical topics of friendship, heartbreak and being distant to the ones you are close to in various ways. Her previous albums, Allt verður alltílæ, Plastprinsessan, have gotten praise in Iceland, winning awards, such as 'Kraumur' awards and getting nominated to the Icelandic Music Awards. She is currently based in Copenhagen where she just finished a master degree in Music Creation from Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium.
