Sensing music - a meditative yoga and concert experience with Arsis Trio

Musik: Andet/Ukendt

Arsis Trio invites you to a unique meditative concert experience where classical music for voice, cello, piano, and organ harmoniously converges with Yin yoga.

Breathe deeply, cultivate serenity within your body, and heighten your senses within the evocative setting of Frihavnskirken in the heart of Østerbro.
Formed from the combination of pianist and organist Alexander Bak-Hansen, vocalist Therese Nielsen, and cellist Torbjørn Eika, Arsis Trio navigates the intersection of classical music, jazz, and folk traditions, drawing inspiration from their diverse musical backgrounds. The trio annually presents a multitude of concerts in Denmark and abroad, recently returning from a tour in Brazil.
This afternoon will consist of a Yin Yoga practice, accompanied by acoustic, classical live-music. After the practice there will be a short break, followed by a guided relaxation, where you will be lying on your mat, relaxed after an in depth fascia releasing practice and ready to sense music
In this meditative concert experience, the three musicians perform selected classical compositions in varying formations, chosen for the atmosphere of rest, harmony and clarity. The repertoire includes works from both renowned and lesser-known composers, spanning from the 1100s to the present day - composers such as Johan Sebastian Bach, Gabriel Fauré, Arvo Pärt og Olivier Messiaen.
Yin yoga is a quiet contemplative practice that works deeply into the body with passive, longer-held poses, targeting the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues - the deep fascia networks of the body. A Yin Yoga class consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body - the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. In this class the poses are held for 3-5 minutes, sometimes longer. Yin is almost entirely passive, although some Yin asanas may contain active elements. During the asanas, muscles are relaxed to avoid muscle spasm, which could result from engaging muscles for long periods.
We aim to redefine the expectations associated with a typical classical concert. So don't worry if you are not familiar with the plots of all Wagner operas or if you don't know the proper time to applaud sophisticatedly during a concert. Instead, we create a space where the absence of distractions allows for presence and heightened perception, enabling the music to weave its way to you-whether you are fully awake, dreaming, or somewhere in between.
